Loch Lomond Bird Of PreyCentre

With over 20 species of birds including owls, hawks, eagles and falcons, Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre is well worth a visit. Their new centre near Balloch, just north of Glasgow, is beautifully-kept, and knowledgeable guides are on hand to show you round. The Centre is also a well-equipped rescue, conservation and education facility.

The Old Forge

Knoydart - what can we say? It's described as Scotland's last true wilderness, and it's one of the most magical places in Britain. Although Knoydart is on the mainland there's no access by road, so you have to either walk there or get a boat from Mallaig. The Old Forge at Inverie - Knoydart's only village - has a lively, welcoming atmosphere, good food, and loads of impromptu musical events. You've just got to go!

The Welsh Kite Trust

This charity is devoted to the monitoring and protection of Red Kites in Wales, Britain's only native population of this beautiful raptor. Gigrin Farm

Gigrin Farm is a Red Kite feeding station, where hundreds of Red Kites may be seen in the air at once, especially during the autumn and winter months. A fantastic experience, rated by ornithologists as one of the best birdwatching spectacles in the UK.

British Birdwatching Fair

This is the world's first and largest international birdwatching event. The British Birdwatching Fair is held every year at Rutland Water in Leicestershire and attracts all kinds of wildlife lovers from all over the world. Exhibitors include wildlife tour operators, optics retailers, photographers, and (of course) a large number of artists. I usually have an exhibition in the Art Marquee
