Daring to Fly: Colin Woolf - Wildlife Paintings
Daring to Fly
'Daring to Fly' is an original concept, produced entirely by ourselves. Designed by Colin, written and edited by Jo, this is the first book to focus solely on Colin's work as an artist. It contains a wealth of images, each with notes relating to inspiration and development - but also so much more, such as a brief but enlightening biography, and a chapter devoted to watercolour technique. This is a superb publication, packed with information and beautiful images. If you admire Colin's work, or are a nature lover, you will find it totally absorbing. Content:
The first few chapters are biographical, tracing Colin's early career until he emerged as a professional artist. The second section is devoted to his wildlife paintings, divided into individual chapters such as Mountains and Moorland, Sea and Shore, with a special section on Woodcock. Most paintings are given a whole page to themselves, and accompanying each image is a brief description relating to its inspiration, anecdotal history, and particular challenges in technique.
The third and final section gives a fascinating insight into Colin's technique with watercolour, giving some valuable tips to budding wildlife artists, with detailed illustrations and step-by-step instructions.

Production:
With so much personal commitment, it was very important to us that the book was produced in Britain. It has been printed and bound in Manchester to the highest standards, and Colin colour-matched all the sheets as they rolled off the press. Each copy is bound and covered in a heavyweight, double-folded, glossy dust-jacket. The book measures 345 mm x 245 mm, and contains 178 pages with more than 260 images, many of which have never been seen in print before.
Special Editions:
In addition to the standard editions of the book, we are releasing 75 Special Editions. These signed and numbered copies have been specially-bound and are presented in a beautiful hand-made case containing an original pencil sketch. The subject of this sketch can be chosen by the customer. Colin explains: “While designing the Special Editions, I realised that many of you like my pencil sketches, and in many ways I feel these have more energy than the finished paintings. So not only am I including an original pencil sketch with each one of the Special Editions, but I am also giving you the opportunity to suggest the possible subject matter for your own special sketch."
